  • What is the Dext Connect app?

    The Dext Connect desktop app allows you (the accountant) to sync and manage your desktop client data with Dext Prepare.

  • Which regions is the Connect app available in?

    The Dext Connect app is currently available in:

    - United States: QuickBooks Desktop

    - Canada: QuickBooks Desktop (Sage 50 Desktop coming soon)

    - United Kingdom: Sage 50 Desktop and QuickBooks Desktop

  • Which plans is the Connect app available for?

    The Dext Connect app is available for all plan types, however publishing functionality is only available to the following plan types:

    1. Streamline with client bundles plan

    2. Streamline Unlimited with Dext Connect add-on

    3. Optimize

    UK: Optimize client unlimited, Optimize client bundles, Optimize metered by user

    CA: Optimize client bundles only

  • Where should I install Dext Connect?

    You must install the Connect application in a location where:

    - It is turned on and has access to a stable internet connection whenever Dext Prepare needs access to Sage 50

    - Stable access to the Sage 50 client files, ideally on the same computer or server that Sage 50 is installed on

    - If you are using Dext Prepare with a client, Dext Connect should be installed where the client's files are. This may be your client's machine.

    - If you are using Sage 50 on a virtual machine or remote desktop environment, work with your IT team to ensure the Dext Connect application will be online when you are working with Dext Prepare.

  • What are the System Requirements?

    Windows 7 and above

    4GB RAM

    Sage 50 2015 or newer

    You must must be an administrator on your local computer or server

    You must have a separate user account set up in Sage 50 to perform the integration with

    You must be able to whitelist Dext Connect on your antivirus or firewall software

  • Can I use Dext Connect on a server?

    Yes, definitely! The connection between the computer or the server with Dext Connect on it and the server where the files are stored has to work for Dext Connect to publish items into those files.
