The Xero receipt scanner that arrives coded. Tracking categories and all.

Photograph a receipt or forward a supplier bill. It reaches Xero against the right contact, with your tax rate and tracking categories already on it.

Connect Dext and Xero once.
It stays connected.

The connection pulls your Chart of Accounts, contacts, tracking categories and payment methods into Dext, so everything you code against here is something Xero already recognises. Setting it up takes a couple of minutes.

1. Synchronise your chart of accounts

Open ‘Connections’ in the sidebar, then ‘Integrations’. Find Xero in the list of available accounting software and click ‘Connect’.

2. Upload items to Dext

Add your documents through one of our many submission methods. Take a photo on our mobile app. Upload it directly from your computer. Or email it in. Other options are also available.

3. Dext reads it for Xero

Dext extracts the detail from each document you add. When it has finished, the item is waiting in the inbox of the ‘Costs’ or ‘Sales’ workspace, or in ‘Processed Statements’ in the Bank workspace.

4. Review and edit

Check that the contact, tax rate and tracking category are the ones you want. Change anything that is not, and Dext remembers it for the next document from that supplier.

5. Publish to Xero

When an item has all the correct settings and is ready to go, click the green ‘Publish’ button to send the item to Xero.

Capture it any way you like. Xero gets the tidy version.

Photograph a receipt on the app, forward a supplier bill by email, or drag a folder across from your desktop. Dext reads each one with over 99% accuracy and applies the coding you use, so what reaches Xero is finished rather than half-finished.

Fix it in Dext. Not in Xero.

A mistake costs almost nothing while it is still a draft and quite a lot once it is posted. Dext keeps your documents in one place so the supplier, the tax rate and the tracking category are settled before anything crosses over — and the version Xero receives is the right one.

Numbers that agree with Xero. And a receipt behind each of them.

Everything published from Dext carries its source document with it, so when a figure needs explaining the paperwork is already attached. Reconcile from your desk or your phone, against records that are current rather than a month behind.

Paperwork in.
Xero-ready data out.

Invoices and expenses arrive however they arrive — mobile, email, WhatsApp or desktop — alongside bank statements and e-commerce sales. Dext turns each one into structured data your Xero file can take as it stands.

1. Upload

Send in receipts, invoices and bank statements by mobile app, email or auto-invoice fetch. Itemised transactions come through too, from retailers, marketplaces, e-commerce platforms, point-of-sale systems and payment providers.

2. Process

Intelligent extraction reads the detail with over 99% accuracy and codes it the way you coded the last one like it. Anything that looks wrong is flagged here, where putting it right costs you a moment instead of a correcting journal.

3. Publish to Xero

One click and the item lands in Xero against the right contact, tax rate and tracking category. Nothing crosses over until you say so, and the document stays in Dext, encrypted, if you need it again.

FAQs

Dext reads your invoices, receipts and statements with intelligent extraction and matches them to the right Xero accounts, contacts and tax rates. You review, then publish — so the work happens before anything reaches your books, rather than as a correction afterwards.

Dext applies the tax rates and categories from Xero. You can also set up rules in Dext to automate these settings, streamlining your workflow.

Yes, Dext supports bulk uploads, allowing you to process multiple documents at once and prepare them for publishing to Xero.

Dext flags it and tells you, while the item is still in Dext. You correct it and reprocess, so it never becomes something you have to unpick in Xero later.

Businesses that keep their books in Xero, and the accountants and bookkeepers who work on those books with them. If your books already live in Xero and your paperwork does not, that gap is what Dext closes.
