Dext expands AI Assist with Core guidance, giving every user a ready-made foundation for bookkeeping automation

Two months after launching AI Assist, Dext introduces pre-configured, compliance-aligned guidance available to all firms as part of their existing subscription

Monday 11th May 2026 – Dext, the trusted leader in bookkeeping automation, today announces Core guidance, the first major expansion of AI Assist since its launch in March. Core guidance is a library of pre-configured guidance items aligned to regional compliance standards, available immediately to Dext users as part of their existing subscription.

AI Assist is Dext's intelligent bookkeeping agent, designed to automate repetitive bookkeeping tasks and reduce the manual decisions that happen after document capture and data extraction β€” from categorisation and tax treatment to reviewing, flagging, and applying bookkeeping logic consistently across transactions. Built on the same AI foundations that help Dext process 31.4 million receipts and invoices globally every month, reducing document processing time by more than 90% compared to manual handling, AI Assist goes further, automating the decisions that sit on top of that data.

Since being enabled, AI Assist agents have automated 83% of edits β€” a significant and measurable reduction in time spent on routine bookkeeping tasks. For practices, that means less manual effort, greater consistency across their client base, and more time for the work that matters. Core Guidance builds on that foundation by giving practices a ready-made starting point with pre-configured guidance for common bookkeeping workflows.

Core Guidance is a pre-configured foundation inside AI Assist β€” a library of guidance aligned to regional compliance standards, designed to help automate common accounting and bookkeeping tasks. Core guidance is available immediately, without any setup or manual configuration. Partners still remain in control - they can activate Core guidance items and assign them to specific clients or their entire client base, and choose whether suggestions are applied automatically or surfaced for review. Core guidance is read-only; only Dext can create or modify items, ensuring they remain current with compliance requirements.

Commenting on the launch, Sabby Gill, CEO of Dext, says, "Launching AI Assist was a landmark moment for Dext, and for the thousands of practices we work with. It changed how firms can apply their expertise at scale. Core guidance builds on that immediately, putting the full capability of AI Assist in the hands of every partner from day one, with no configuration and no delay. This is exactly the kind of continued development our partners can expect from us as we keep building out this part of the platform."

How Core guidance works

Practice admins can access Core guidance through Practice Settings > AI Assist > Core guidance. From there, they can browse the available Core guidance items, activate those relevant to their clients, and assign them either individually or across their full client base. Partners that want to build guidance beyond what is available in the Core guidance library can do so through an AI Assist free trial or paid licence.

Continuing to build on AI Assist

The launch of Core guidance follows strong early engagement with AI Assist across the partner base, and is the first in a series of planned developments to the feature. Further updates to AI Assist are part of Dext's ongoing product roadmap.

Availability

Core guidance is available now for accountancy and bookkeeping firms in the UK, Australia, and France. Availability in the US and Canada will follow shortly after, with Direct users to be included in a subsequent release. Core guidance is included in all Dext partner subscriptions at no additional cost.
