How Dext is Evolving to Help You Drive Your Clients’ Growth

By Spiros Theodossiou, Chief Product Officer at Dext

I love being in a product-led organisation. One where we try to understand your needs and get to the bottom of your challenges, and then use technology to build products and services that solve those problems.

Accounting has been through so many changes in the last 12 months. We’ve had the pandemic to contend with, regulatory changes, the digitisation of tax – and it’s all happening at a phenomenal rate.

This means we need to re-examine how we interact with you. At Dext, we have built a multi-platform strategy that will enable you to better interact with your clients and help them build their businesses moving forward.

Dext Prepare

Prepare is powered by Receipt Bank. We’ve built a range of features within Prepare to streamline your workflows – including Supplier Rules and Auto-Publish.

Supplier Rules establish routine behaviours that take effect whenever documents from specific suppliers are uploaded. For example, Uber receipts are always categorised as a travel expense. Supplier Rules automate this behaviour so that you don’t need to review predictable paperwork from repeat suppliers or customers.

Supplier Rules automate this behaviour so that you don’t need to review predictable paperwork from repeat suppliers or customers.

Auto-Publish works in tandem with Supplier Rules to save you even more time. This feature automatically publishes documents from specific suppliers, customers or payment methods straight to your integrated accounting software as soon as they’ve been submitted.

We’ve also invested a lot of resources in driving the 99% accuracy rate our users see in uploading documents and extracting data – and we continue to invest heavily in this area.

A huge amount of time and effort has also gone into reducing turnaround time, giving you insight in as near as real-time as possible to help your clients make better decisions about how to run their business.

At Dext, we want your entire client base to be able to interact with our products and services. That’s why Prepare integrates with a wide range of accounting software packages.

We’ve built Prepare to seamlessly integrate with both cloud-based and desktop platforms, including Sage 50 and QuickBooks.

Having these options allows you to work closely with your clients, regardless of which accounting systems are the preferred choice.

Dext Precision

Precision is powered by Xavier to give you deep insights into the accuracy of your current and potential clients data. It also integrates with a wide range of accounting software.

Thousands of our partners currently use Precision to get an accurate picture on their clients’ state of compliance, historical transactions and discrepancies in their data.

That big picture allows you to create bespoke, real-time reports which give you the right talking points for conversations with your clients – enabling them to improve and grow their businesses.

Health Score

Within Precision is our industry-leading Health Score feature, powered by Xavier!

The Health Score rates the quality of your clients’ accounting records for costly errors and inconsistencies. Having this at hand instantly shows you exactly what needs to be done, giving you confidence in their data for reporting or advisory.

In combination with Precision’s up-to-date transactional metrics, the Health Score allows you to see ahead of time how much work is needed for a client when onboarding, and price them correctly before welcoming them to your firm.

Dext HomePage

The Dext HomePage is one of our latest products. From a single dashboard, HomePage gives you access to all of our products, services and a wide-range of insights.

You can see the full workflow for each of your clients – what outstanding items they have, what documents need collecting and if they need to be onboarded to the Dext product set.

You’re also able to instantly see the Health Score for each of your clients. Having that at your fingertips gives you the right insights to have information at a glance. And these deep insights give you the talking points to advise your clients, helping them to grow and be successful.

We’ve included additional features on the HomePage, too: you’ll get quick access to the knowledge hub, and links to automatically upload certain documents and download the Dext app.

HomePage is your dashboard into the world of our Dext products and services, and we’ll continue to evolve this over time for you.

Future roadmap

At the core of what we’re trying to do at Dext is build productive products which help you be more profitable and powerful. That’s why we’re committing to continually adding to our product set.

Pay is a product we’re currently testing. It enables you to track and manage your invoices and pay them from a single dashboard. And I’m delighted to say that it will be available in the coming months as we expand.

In addition to Pay, we’re working on two new products which will improve your workflows and enhance your productivity.

Gathering feedback from users and seeing first-hand how people use our products, we’re able to understand the challenges and bottlenecks you face. From there, we’re able to use those insights to build our next generation of products which solve those challenges for you.

We’re also using that data to allow you to look into the future and foresee any challenges or issues that might arise in your client base. By giving you these actionable insights, you get to have fruitful conversations with your clients around how to improve their businesses, optimise and grow.

We want your feedback!

We want to make sure you’re as involved as possible in shaping the future of what we build.

On a quarterly basis, we’ll be holding product roundtables to walk you through our new products as they’re being built. Your feedback in these sessions will help us create products you love.

Please register and join us at our first product feedback session on 8th April. I look forward to seeing you there!
