The name changed.
The accuracy didn’t.

You may have known us as Receipt Bank, then as Dext Prepare, Precision and Commerce. Today it is one intelligent bookkeeping automation platform that runs from capturing an invoice through to paying it — working with the accounting software you already use, the way it always has.

Receipt Bank

What was Receipt Bank?

Receipt Bank launched in 2010 with one job: take the paperwork out of expenses. It was the first tool of its kind, and it is where the accuracy you rely on today started.

What did Receipt Bank do?

It gave accountants, bookkeepers and the businesses they serve a way to:

Capture and track business expenses without the shoebox

Send receipts and invoices to the cloud from a phone, the moment they arrived

Connect to Xero, QuickBooks and the rest of the ledger

Close the month without a paper chase

Dext Prepare

What was Dext Prepare?

In 2021, Receipt Bank became Dext, and Prepare became the flagship. Every habit you had built stayed exactly where it was. The name was the only thing that moved.

How was Dext Prepare used?

Expenses went in whichever way suited the day:

A photo taken in the Dext app on the way out of the shop

An email forwarded from wherever the invoice landed

A batch of files dragged and dropped at the desk

Dext Precision

What was Dext Precision?

Precision watched the numbers rather than the documents. Data health scores, insights and deadline dashboards showed accountants exactly where a set of books was drifting. That capability is still here - it's what you'll now find as Dext Data Health & Insights, built into the platform rather than living in its own login.

How was Precision used?

It found errors while they were still cheap to fix. A miscoded transaction caught in March cost a minute. The same one found at year-end cost an afternoon.

Dext Commerce

What was Dext Commerce?

Dext Commerce (formerly Greenback) was built for businesses selling online, where the volume is high and every sale arrived in pieces. That's still here too - it's what you'll now find as Dext Commerce Lite, built into the platform for businesses selling across up to five channels.

How was Dext Commerce used?

It pulled sales data from every channel and itemised it, separating the taxes, the payment fees and the refunds. Ecommerce reconciled like everything else.

Four products then. One platform now.

Capture, processing, approvals, expenses and payments run as a single workflow inside Dext, connected to the accounting software you already use. The parts you knew haven’t gone anywhere — they have simply stopped being separate. Built on over 2 billion accounting documents, and still learning.
