Frequently Asked Questions

Dext Payments is available for your clients who have a Dext Business subscription. For selected clients you pay a flat fee per client per month (£10 on annual contracts, £13 on monthly contracts) which gives that client access to the payments platform with the included free allowances.

Dext Payments currently only supports clients on a Business license and who are integrated with Xero. We are actively working on integration with QuickBooks Online. We will also support a Non-integrated version in future.

The Client License includes up to 20 free supplier payments per month and 20 free payroll payments per month. Payment of Employee Expenses (Employee Reimbursements) are treated as supplier payments NOT payroll payments.

No. Only UK Faster Payments is included in the allowance.

Any Faster Payments payments beyond the free allowance are charged at the standard rate of £0.25 per transaction (excluding VAT). The full fee schedule details all of the fees for other payment rails.

For Accountants and Bookkeepers where the client is on your subscription, Dext Payments is added to your subscription as an add-on. You will be responsible for paying this license fee with your subscription as normal

For usage outside of the free allowance the Client Account is invoiced directly via the Dext app. Fees are invoiced at the end of every calendar month and a Dext Payments invoice is raised for the Client. This invoice appears in the Cost Inbox and in the Payments space automatically. This invoice can be quickly and easily paid using Dext Payments (as you would use the feature to pay any other supplier). Payment of the Dext Payments invoice does not use the free allowance or incur any fees.

No, unfortunately we cannot offer a free trial for Dext Payments. If, however, you on an annual contract and want to cancel within your first 3 months of using Dext Payments, we will allow you to remove Dext Payments from your contract outside of the annual commitment term.

When you are paying multiple invoices for a single supplier to a single bank Account you can easily group together the invoices into a single payment. A single payment will be made and charged for, unlike other solutions that charge per invoice, meaning batching multiple invoices into a single payment saves you money. All of the individual invoices will be marked as paid and reconciled.

For Accountants & Bookkeepers, we do not charge any setup or connection fee when setting up a client on Dext Payments for the first time. We do, however, charge a reconnection fee of £5 if you add a license to any client who previously had Dext Payments but currently does not have a license.

You are able to remove licenses from clients and add them to other clients, however, a cooling off period applies on license changes and a reconnection fee applies when accounts are reconnected.

No. Allowances of included supplier payments and payroll payments are tied to each specific client.

No. The 20 free supplier payments and 20 free payroll payments are separate allowances and cannot be combined or used interchangeably.

Unfortunately we incur costs on pay-ins and need to charge for the usage. However we do include a free allowance of pay-ins on Accountant & Bookkeeper plans.
